POSITION: MANAGER
–
RESPONSIBLE TO: Plant Manager
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
·
College degree in Business
Administration/Management, Industrial Engineering/Technology, or a related
field of study is required.
·
Minimum 4 years experience
as a plant manager, industrial engineer, engineering technician, production
analyst, or as a direct manufacturing supervisor.
·
Working knowledge of modern
manufacturing practices and/or service contract fulfillment.
·
Knowledgeable of piece rate
development and incentive systems.
·
Ability to use personal
computers (Excel, Word, MS Access preferred or comparable database).
·
Ability to work with
disabled people, particularly persons who are blind.
·
Ability to work in a team
oriented work environment with all levels of line, staff, and management.
·
Demonstrated skill in
developing prototypes and assisting with product development. Must be detail
oriented.
·
Good verbal and written
communication skills.
·
Good organization skills.
·
Ability to work
independently with minimum direct supervision.
·
Ability to maintain a high
personal standard of ethics and professional behavior.

understand contracts and agreements, particularly government contracts,
summaries, orders, modifications, exceptions, amendments and waivers.

manuals and coordinate training activities for new employees and cross-training
of current employees.

Performance Responsibilities:
·
To plan, organize, direct,
and control all activities necessary to carry out the conversion of raw
materials and supplies into finished products, or to perform service contract
activities per customer specifications.
·
To provide the managerial
leadership necessary to motivate subordinates in order to maximize the use of
their talents and abilities.
·
To assist the plant manager
with technical aspects of planning, coordinating, data collection, analysis,
product development, process improvement, cost reduction, efficiency
improvement, work measurement, and problem identification and solution.
·
To coordinate all training
and cross training of AIB employees, especially those who have visual
impairments, and to assist the Plant Manager with personnel and manufacturing
activities.
·
To work with engineering
and production staff in determining workstation design, job modifications, and
work methods best suited to AIB production requirements and to the needs of
visually impaired workers.
·
Responsible for placement and tracking of workers, to insure
that labor costs are assigned correctly and that employees are utilized in the
most efficient and effective manner.
·
Help establish reasonable
goals and objectives for the AIB satellite facility congruent with those of
other functions within AIB and AIDB as a functional member of the management
team.
·
Responsible for the proper
interpretation and execution of AIB/AIDB policies and procedures, government
regulations, JWOD Act, federal, state, and local laws and directives as may be
issued from upper management and administration.
·
Help plan and establish schedules
and budgets based on sales projections.
·
Help develop capacity plans
that reflect actual production/service capability based on current and
projected demand, which meet customer delivery requirements.
·
Responsible for cost
containment and cost reduction within the satellite facility through increased
efficiency and reduction of waste.
·
Provide timely and accurate
reporting for the activities within the satellite facility as required by good
management practices and the needs of other management and administration.
·
Provide the organizational
guidance necessary to optimize the use of existing space and help determine
future needs as indicated by changes in demand.
·
Utilization of the most
effective processes, procedures, methods and controls to optimize the use of
resources.
·
Responsible for the
determination of the proper workflow and manufacturing balance within the
various production and service units.
·
Coordinate manufacturing
and service contract activities with other functional areas of AIB/AIDB to ensure
smooth flow of all work related activities.
·
Coordinate and monitor the
efforts of subordinate staff to meet relevant goals and objectives.
·
Assist supervisors and
staff with problems beyond their respective levels of authority, expertise, or
training.
·
Help develop training
programs within the satellite facility to provide all employees with the
opportunity to increase productivity, enhance or enrich their jobs, improve
their standard of living and reach their maximum desirable potential.
·
Direct interaction with
government or customer quality representatives relative to the delivery of
products or services in accordance with all specifications and standards.
Responsible for acceptable levels of quality relative to all AIB products and
services.
·
Responsible for
disseminating all information from upper management and administration to
subordinates within the satellite facility. This includes the issuance of all
work orders to the respective units under the scope of this position.
·
To develop and maintain work
methods analysis and improvements.
·
To assist in researching,
selecting and implementing computerized systems to capture WIP, labor cost,
waste, and related data.
·
To perform work measurement
(time studies, MTM, or other DOL approved techniques) duties and maintain
required documentation in compliance with DOL and National Industries for the
Blind regulations.
·
To assist with product or
service costing.
·
To develop and maintain
standards and the use of standard data.
·
Develop and improve work
methods, work aids, jigs, fixtures and workstations.
·
To assist in the training
of all production employees, using the most cost effective work methods, and
maintains progress reports on each trainee.
·
To participate as a member
of the research and development team relative to current product lines as well
as new product and service feasibility and cost studies.
·
Research and make
recommendations relative to equipment purchases and utilization.
SALARY: $35,928 -
$65,704 Scale A1 Rank 05
Direct deposit is required.
This
is an exempt position, and is not subject to overtime or compensatory
provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
