Extending the hand of fellowship

to all blind and visually impaired Lions

The American Council of Blind Lions promotes awareness and understanding of the capabilities and needs of the blind and visually impaired. ACBL encourages people with vision loss to become involved in their local Lions Clubs throughout the United States and around the world. Through such active participation, ACBL members assist local clubs to meet Helen Keller's challenge to be "knights of the blind" and provide significant and meaningful service to blind and visually impaired people of all ages.

ACB Lions network with one another and share information about resources and opportunities for the blind and visually impaired. ACBl members advise clubs on appropriate programs and expenditures for the visually impaired community.

ACBL holds a luncheon and business meeting, a meeting of its Board of Directors, and its annual Pin Swap each July in conjunction with the national convention of the American Council of the Blind. When possible, a visit is also planned to a local club, and blind Lions from across the United States share news of their activities with sighted Lions in the convention city.

Members of the American Council of Blind Lions are eligible to receive recorded editions of "The Lion Magazine", the official publication of Lions Clubs International.

The American Council of Blind Lions has been serving people with low vision since 1971. ACBL is sanctioned by Lions Clubs International. Dues are $12.00 per year. Membership is open to blind, visually impaired and sighted Lions.
