The meeting was called to order at 8:49pm Eastern. Present were: Chair, Mike duke; Members, Cindy Burgett, Chelle Hart, DeAnna Noriega & Charlie Hodge; staff, Sharon Lovering; ex-officio members, Janelle edwards and Ralph Sanders.
Minutes of October 24 were approved as distributed.
The first order of business discussed was the binding of the past 7 years of magazines for preservation. Save a Book Bindery, at a cost of $157.50 for 7 volumes representing the 7 previous years of magazines came in with the best bid. . Cindy moved and Chelle seconded that we go with this bid. After some discussion on the need for such a binding, the motion passed.
Purge card. Cindy moved that we do a large print purge of the Braille Forum for the amount of $1,021 to be included as part of our 2006 budget request.
Charlie seconded the motion and after some discussion, it passed.
The next topic was the discussion of how many issues we would produce in 2006. Our discussion was based on our current production costs in the many different formats based on per page.
Deanna made a motion to spend up to $134188.50 for the cost of 10 issues, 2 48 page and 8 32 page. This was seconded by Cindy and passed.
The next meeting of the BOP will be on February 17, at 7:00pm, at the Hyatt-Regency in Jacksonville, Florida, held in conjunction with the midyear meetings.
Mike then brought up that the BOP was asked to consider doing a presentation for the President's meetings on Sunday morning, February 19. We all agreed that it would be a good idea to find out what the President's would like such a presentation to cover. Mike will draft up an email to the President's and put it on the leadership list for feedback
