ACB is a national membership organization formed by blind people in 1961. There are fifty state affiliates and twenty special-interest groups, consisting of members, relatives, friends and supporters of the blind. ACB members include blind and visually impaired teachers, lawyers, federal employees, musicians, guide dog users, etc. We are primarily an organization of volunteers with a small, paid staff in Washington, D.C.
Membership dues are only $5 per year to allow blind people of every socio-economic condition to enjoy all ACB services. The actual cost per member is approximately $35 per year for our monthly magazine, "The Braille Forum," information about the ACB Annual convention, the right to vote at the convention, and other benefits and services.
