
WHO IS ELIGIBLE... There are several degrees of vision loss which qualify a person: Totally blind-no usable vision - Legally blind-visual acuity of 20/200 or less with corrective lens, OR field of vision limited to 20 degrees or less, OR progressive eye disease which will lead to severe vision loss.
WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU? The Missouri Council of the Blind is a support group that can provide more information and help guide you through the maze of questions that will arise as you build your new lifestyle. Information provided includes scholarships, summer camps, special services program, adaptive technology information, health benefits, employment and legislation issues and public awareness programs.
Available upon request is the Missouri Chronicle, a quarterly publication of the Missouri Council of the Blind. It is free and can be obtained in large print, braille, Email or on cassette.
The Missouri Council of the Blind encourages local affiliates within Missouri to actively support blindness issues and act as the local support group for the newly blinded young people as well as the older blind. Many members attend the state convention each October and the national convention each July.
