Hello from Omaha!
With no chapter meetings this summer, things have been pretty quiet around here. With the price of gas being what it is, I suspect that many of us stuck close to home and roasted weenies and marsh-mallows in our own backyards. Of course there was the ACB national convention in Louisville, Kentucky in July, which was attended by the Jiraks. Howard and I made a quick day trip to Lemars, Iowa to visit the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Museum, and since we were so close and neither of us had ever been there, we wandered a few miles into Minnesota, just so we could say that we had actually been there.
Regarding the well-being of our members, it has come to my attention that Paul Stebbins was recently under the weather, but is feeling better now.
Our chapter is in the process of launching a couple of fund-raisers. On September 20 and 21, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, we are holding a garage sale at our home in Ralston. On November 15, we will be participating in the Younkers Community Day sale and will soon be receiving coupon books to sell. Wish us luck in our endeavors!
We hope that everybody is doing well. Until the next newsletter, take care of yourselves.
Editors note: Just to update the Garage Sale news, thanks for the enormous effort expended by Janis and Howard Compton ably assisted by Jean and Rich Jirak, and Carol Gibilisco, Debbie who works with Howard, Janice Shafer, Sharon and Terry Brennfoerder and their daughter Tina, who took the trouble to come up from Lincoln, and Katie Larson who was our cashier and yours truly who enjoyed spending time with good friends. And thank you Janis for feeding all the workers such wonderful meals. The garage sale was successful, the amount raised was $447.84, and thank you to the many people who donated the articles that we were able to sell. Shirley C. Allen.
