Director of Iowa Department for the Blind

The Iowa Commission for the Blind is seeking applications for the position of Director of the Iowa Department for the Blind.

The incumbent functions as the director of the Department for the Blind, an executive branch agency of Iowa state government. The director heads the state agency providing services to blind persons. These services include vocational and independent living rehabilitation, adult orientation center training, the business enterprises program, and library services for the blind and physically disabled. The position administers an agency with approximately 90 full-time permanent employees and an annual operating budget of approximately $11 million. The director serves at the pleasure of the commission and is exempt from the merit employment system of Iowa state government.

Minimum qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree (advanced degree preferred) and five years of relevant management experience.

Salary range: $63,690 - $97,460 annually, plus comprehensive benefit package.
