hi Teddy,
I understand your concern about the loss of historical memory of the
organization. If you think Jean Sanders has a list of life members
certainly someone should contact her. AT least that would give us the
history and life members like you would be recognized.
I remember that at our convention Oral appointed the two of us to work on
trying to reach out to senior citizens in the Reno Nevada area. I guess we
need to talk about this. I have unlimited long distance so it would be
easy for us to do a telephone planning time. My number is: 202-223-0669.
Please call me so that we can start our work together. I have voicemail so
you can leave a message any time if I am not here. We can certainly plan
a time that fits our schedules to talk about this.

Hi Robert and Nola,
What I am mostly referring to is the denial that we have any life members.
Our current treasurer said she had no records that I was a life member. As
I recall, Jeanne Sanders in Florida kept records of life members and maybe
someone should get in touch with her to verify these members. I am
disappointed by the loss of historical memory. Yes, we can attract new
members, but the passion and commitment of our founders is sadly lost. Yes,
the list is a good idea, but so far noone is using it. Thanks for the
generous effort, Robert.

yes teddy I do agree we have lost quite a few of the hardest workers but I
am sure we can develop enough interest in the older members as they age.
keep it going Rob thats great with me.

I haven't personally found a need to post **up to now,** bit I feel
listservs can be a valuable communications tool.

Hello Robert,
Unfortunately, in the 11 years since AAVL was established, historical
memory has declined. That has happened because we have lost many of the
founding members. As the founding president, I am and have been for a
number of years, a life member. I believe that our former newsletter editor
was also a life member. Jeanne Sanders from Florida also a life member.
Are you collaborating with any of the AAVL board members? The only
founding member left are those I mentioned, Charlie Crawford and myself.
It saddens me that so many wonderful members have passed but also the
historical memory seems to have died with them. We who are life members
paid $200.00 to ensure that status when Al Gayzagian was our treasurer and
provided us with such reliable records.
I think that if there is no historical commitment, this effort for
reconnection, as sincere as it may be, is obviously useless. There are too
many lists for current issues and AAVL has lost its past. Thanks for
trying, Robert.

Dear listers,
Do any of you know of any others who have been a member AAVl in the
past or may want to become members now. There is always a problem with
people not being sure their dues being paid up. I keep getting hits on this
list by people wanting to be subscribed to it. They are not on my somewhat
limited listing of members so I cannot oblige because the list is only for
paid up members of AAVL. To my knowledge, AAVL has no lifetime memberships
and "Life" member of ACB still leaves annual membership dues a requirement.
Membership on this list depends upon current membership.
When I started this list, I believed that it might promote
communication among AAVL membership, either chit-chat type or AAVL business
type.
QUESTIONS: Do you want the list to continue?
Do any of you want to find other members to be subscribed? Only I
can finalize that.
Best wishes for upcoming holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter,
oh and yes, the biggy of Halloween. smiles.
Robert Rogers
