Well the kidneys are going. When I wen to see the nephrologis, he said I needed to make an appointment with dialysis nurse educator. I did that and talked aobut peritoneal dialysis vx. Hemodialysis. As my vascular system is so bad, the doc thnks I will do better with the peritoneal type. It actually sounds better than the hemo as the diet is less constricting and over-all the person feels better. It is done daily. My husband can see well enough to do the contecting and disconnecting that is necessary with the "beer tap" they will insert in my lower abdomen. I will see him again on Dec. 1 and I suppose he will send me to a vascular surgeon to talk about having that done soon. Don't know if they will do anything else at the same time. If the peritoneal dialysis does not wrk for some reason, they will then do the other.
Rather depressing, but my docs have kep me off dialysis for a long time, so I appreciate that.
