[Acb-diabetics] Insulin Loading Devices

Hi Everybody:

I am writing today with a question.

Today, we got a call from a blind gentleman asking about insulin loading
devices. I'm not using insulin, not yet anyway <smile>, and have no personal
knowledge about this area. I've seen a couple of older devices that measure
insulin and through which you can load a syringe. Also, I've read all about the
newer insulin pens, and one tends to imagine that they are an improvement over
the older loading devices. But, again this is based on perception, not direct
knowledge.

So, the questions:

This guy asked me about three devices:

safe shot
load-a-matic
count-a-dose

He was told by LS&S that the latter two have been discontinued by the FDA. Can
anybody shed light on this?

Second, are people generally moving away from this sort of device to an insulin
pen?

Thanks for any input.

Chris
