Cathy,

If it is peritoneal (forgive that spelling) dialysis it is perfectly possible to do at home as long as you have someone come in once a day to check your bags.  I don't think you could use the cycler for an overnight way of dialysizing because they have not put speech into the units for some unknown, stupid reason  The hemo type of dialysis would mean you would have to go into a center three times a week.  Opt for the peritoneal type if you can.

  Hi Everyone,

  I was wondering if anyone knew what the magic number is before you go on to dialysis and does anyone do it at home.  They have assured me that this is possible, even when no sighted person is  available.  I'm certainly hoping so.  I have heard a lot of different numbers and the doctor seems disinclined to give me an exact number.  I have heard it is a creatin of 3 and a GFR of 10.  Do either of these numbers seem right to you.  I'd like to go into my next appointment with some facts so he has to let me know  Probably a good time to leave the hubby at home.  What do you all think?
