Hi Brian!
I am indeed totally blind. Of all the things to fuss over, that's not 
the one. First, depending on which pump you have, you certainly know 
how much you put into the cartridge, reservoir or whatever the 
individual company calls it. If a pump runs out of insulin, it starts 
beeping like crazy and believe me, not even a sighted person could 
miss it! <smirk.> Unfortunately we've just lost one of the more 
accessible pumps because the company went out of business. They 
definitely are not perfect and there are many cool features not 
available to us, but there is no reason a totally blind person can't 
use a pump. You sure couldn't pay me enough to go off of mine.
