If the alcohol is allowed to evaporate, there is no residue and therefore no
effect upon blood glucose readings taken from the anointed finger. However,
under most circumstances, using alcohol isn't necessary if your fingers are
clean and you haven't eaten something that leaves a glucose-rich residue on
them. Frankly, incessant use of alcohol to clean before shots dates from the
days when people weren't quite as fastidious as they generally are these
days.
