Diane, The TB libraries have a number of good books; and of course, several magazines.
There are only several subject areas about diabetes to cover the subject: symptoms to give a diagnosis, use of meds and/or insulin, and food selections and exercise techniques. Once we know about those things, we have what we need to know to cope with diabetes.
But the proof is in the details which include developing the will power to include exercise in our daily activities, and learning the numerous choices of what to eat and in what portions. The books we can find in the TB library or BARD should cover the subject.
What we see posted here every day by our our ACBDA data slooth, Patricia, are the ever-changing flow of research data.
I personally find that the food selection and portion choices are the most troublesome. Using the calory count and fat portions of foods ain't easy for our household to follow strictly. I know; I know; I am supposed to put the food portions in a cup and fill it up only to half a cup, most of a cup, a full cup, and sometimes, a bit more than a cup. I must remember to measure the meat portions to the size of a deck of cards--do you realize how messy my deck of cards is becoming using it to measure my fish and chicken?
But, good luck, Diane. I like the idea of using Bard. The qualaities of the disk player are so much more fun to use and listen to than are those in the tape players.

How can you find accessible books on the Bard website?
As for good accessible diabetes books, aside from the American Diabetes
Association and Joslin Center diabetes guides (available from the BARD
site)
What is the Website for Bard?
TKS,
Diane
