Bill Lewis here. I have been reading for years about mail-order medicine
scams, plus numerous other types of scams. When it comes to diabetes
supplies, I deal with a pharmacy in town who delivers strips, needles, and
meds to my house whenever I phone for refills. It is charged to my
insurances at a standard price. I know the people who work at the pharmacy
by name and they know me. I've never had any problems with them or any
products they sell, and that's the way I like it.
I am distrustful of doing business by internet. I realize there are plenty
of honest businesses doing business on the Internet, but I am more
comfortable knowing the people I do business with, and with whom I can
communicate face-to-face in case of problems.
But there are some occasions when I am obligated to do business with
out-of-state or out-of-city businesses. For instance, I have to send my
house payments to a company in Florida. I have to send money to the I R S
by mail. And those IRS people are the worst! They don't ask me how much of
my money I would like to donate to the government, so they can give it to
bank presidents, and political cronies, etc.
I hate that IRS bunch who tell me how much of my hard earned money I must
send to them, and they assume I'm supposed to smile? Those IRS folks I
don't want to talk to face-to-face. I'd just as soon never speak to them at
all, unless I have to.
One time last Spring my wife and I went looking at used cars to replace the
old crate we still drive. We saw one real nice car, all shiny and spiffy.
It had very comfortable seats and was quiet during the test drive. We asked
the salesman how much would the taxes be on a car like that? He said it
would probably be an arm and a leg.
See why I hate the IRS? I didn't want to spend that much.
Oops! I got off track. Good bye. - Bill
