Veronica:
It's usually pretty easy to hold the pen straight going in although
(contrary to the usual advice and instructions, I sneak the third finger of
the hand holding the pen part way along the needle to guide it in
straighter). I use my other hand to hold the pen steady as I push down the
plunger; I prefer to use my index finger rather than the oft-advised thumb.
My experience is that, more often than not, the needle bends when pulling it
out of the skin.
