Actually, it's the little things that get you at the AADE show. I
can't believe how much I just spent to rent a piece of carpet, a
table and two chairs for my booth. Wow! I did manage to snoop around
the directory of exhibitors and noticed that the NFB of Texas will be
there as well. I haven't found any ACB representation yet. But you
never know! Hey, maybe I'll see a familiar face or two. <grin.>
My new CD is called Diabetes Melodious. It contains 13 songs, over an
hour of music about different aspects of living with diabetes that
don't usually get talked about, especially not in this way. Some of
the songs are quite funny and some are very serious.
For instance, there's Honey, Are you Low? It's about all the funny or
stupid behavior things that can happen when our blood sugar is going
low but not enough that we've really admitted it yet. One song is
Open Your Mind or Shut Your Mouth! It's aimed at those who exactly
what we should and shouldn't do. There's a song about the thought
process that can go on in our heads as we sit in that little room,
waiting for the doctor to walk in. There's a song written to my
fingers. Naturally there's a song about food and it really isn't what
you'd expect. One song lets you explore what it is that makes you do
what you have to do when you don't think you can.
On this CD, I'm singing and playing various instruments. And some of
you may know my dog CDS. Well, on this one I've turned all our
favorite diabetes management gear into part of the instrumental
ensemble. You'll definitely recognize the Accuchek voice mate,
several pumps, other meters and stabbers. Those lancing devices made
a pretty decent percussion section.
I was actually rather surprised as I discovered just how much I must
have needed to write these songs. I sure went through a lot of
kleenex, especially on the song to my fingers.
I'm getting the stuff on my web site ready and the CD should be
available in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for asking.
