Yes, I do agree. Meters do help but are not fool proof.

You still have to take a second reading, whether the meter tells you you
have insufficient blood or gives you an anomalous reading. So in my view,
while it might be reassuring to have explicit error messages, it isn't quite
as important as everyone is making it out to be in that one must to the same
thing either way -- test and test again! (grin)
