Yeah, and it's one remote, one pump. Now, if we could sit at
convention and do things to each other's pumps, now that would be a
story! Besides, what are they going to make us do, enter passwords
every time we bolus or something? I think not. And no way am I giving
up my pump. Okay, I'm not using a remote right now but boy, a good
talking tubeless with a remote, drool drool!
Actually I was recently exhibiting at the American Association of
diabetes educators conference and got to play with a Tandem pump, as
their booth was across the isle from mine. Other than wondering what
the draw of a touch screen pump really is, it really did look like a
nicely designed pump. And across the isle from me in the other
direction was Roche. So I also got to play with the upcoming Spirit
combo. This one also puts everything into a remote that replaces the
current need to use a PDA. I'd have to play with it more than I did
before making a real pronouncement on its accessibility for us, but
it kind of looked like everything was set up through wizards. So you
couldn't take a bite of food without answering 20 questions first.
Are you sure you don't want to test now? Really? That kind of stuff.
And if you want to snoop at another interesting web site, there was a
company called Spring Universal that is coming out with a pump and an
interesting looking infusion set. The web site is
www.springuniversal.com where you can read about them. I wish I'd
been able to get over to their booth, but my hubby ran over and
picked up some literature and chatted with them. I just didn't get
much chance to leave my own booth. That's not all bad either. <grin.>
Okay, off my soap box now. Not afraid of new tech toys. I just want
them to work!
