Med companies usually want to put the least amount of money out, so will go
with whatever meter company will charge them the least.
Diabetic unawareness is when you cannot feel you are going into a low blood
sugar.

Subject: [acb-diabetics] The Prodigy Voice Strips

Hi, everyone. I haven't been on the list for awhile, but I've
been reading through it. Recently, United Healthcare, my
insurance company, has stopped covering the Prodigy Voice strips.
They're now covering the Solo strips instead. Do most insurance
companies do this? That is, do they stop covering the old
technology and only cover newer things like the Solo strips? I
have both meters, but why don't they cover both. Caremark, who
dispenses my pharmaceuticals sent me a 90-day supply of strips
for the Solo, costing me about $60. I guess the price of strips
has gone up. Has the Solo meter been updated? I haven't used
it, but will start using it now. I have the Solo meter I won in
a drawing at the national convention 2 years ago, I think. Pat,
what is diabetic unawareness? Talk to everyone later. Fondly,
Nancy Ungar
