[acb-diabetics] The Prodigy Voice Strips

Your intuition is correct: the Prodigy and Solo strips are not compatible.
The Prodigy strips, like those of most other bg meters, use a single
electrode. The Solo V2 strips have two electrodes which makes it easier for
the meter to detect insufficient blood. This is one of the great advantages
of the Solo. But, at least until the "improved" version comes out, this
advantage for me does not outweigh the disadvantage of no "repeat" or "say
display" key and not having the times as well as the dates of readings from
memory spoken. To me, while it is nice to tag readings as before or after
meals or just readings, this is meaningless unless one knows *which* meal
and gimmicks such as the alarm are just that -- gimmicks. In fairness,
though, if you're a Type 2 and test perhaps once or twice a day, such an
alarm might make more sense. But for thems of us who test before every meal,
after exercise and before going to sleep at night, an alarm seems
superfluous.
If the new Solo has these "defects" fixed, however, I might well switch to
it.
Cheers!
Mike Freeman

Hi Nancy
I use the prodigy and they still send me strips, I've been told that both
the prod..strips and solo strips can work together, however I doubt
that...frown I think it depends on each one's insurance.
