To me, all beans except green or yellow beans raise my BG. But everyone is
different.

Hello Jo:

So, I'll try to make it simple. All beans and legumes are starches, but
they are complex starches (carbs) so they're good for you. Beans are also a
protien, so they can count as a meat. Green peas, lima/butter beans are
also starches, but I can't remember if they're complex or simple.

Simple starches are white potatoes, white rice, white sugar, etc. That's
all I can think of right now.

Ms. D.

I've been a type II diabetic for almost two years and have met with a
dietician once. However, I read something about legumes being good for you
and a good substitute for meat. But some other beans and peas are considered
starch. Can someone shed light for me on what beans are good to eat and
others that need to be counted as starch? Thanks.

Jo Anne.
