[acb-diabetics] article about accessible meters.

I get my testing results on-line.
Even if I did not, however, I figure it's incumbent upon me to get print
material read. There will never be a day when everything is accessible short
of everyone having sight.

Isn't it about time to start loudly complaining about inaccessible testing
reports.

Hi, list, The Access World article stated that the Prodigy has a software
where one can print out a report of ones blood sugars for your physician or
other providers. Is this an accessible program?

I don't have to send in my meter, but the insurance company is requiring me
to send in , every month, a month's worth of 4-6 daily blood sugar results,
or Medicare will not pay for the meter and strips.

Well, in addition to this ridiculous discrimination, I hope someone
challenges the practice of making people send in their meter every three
months so the government can see if we've been good little boys and girls,
testing when we say we do and not selling our strips on the black market for
money so that we can do, ahem, what with a meter? This is a waste of plastic
and terrible environmental stewardship. A meter can last a long time. Think
of how much money somebody would save by not buying all those extra meters.
Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!
But Nancy, Ken is right. I'd look at your insurance policy and file an
appeal according to their rules, in which you explain that you have recourse
with the department of justice according to the Americans with disabilities
act reasonable accommodation provisions.
Don't let them get away with this. You matter!
