[acb-diabetics] tips on testing blood

There are as many techniques as there are testers. The common denominator is
practice, practice, practice. Although many won't want to hear this, I
recommend to seasoned diabetics that they set the lancet device on max -- if
it doesn't sting, it isn't strong enough. (grin)

I think the Solo and Prodigy are about equally thirsty.

I understand that the Solo meter requires less blood so you may have better
luck with it if you're not already using one. after loading the lancet and a

strip into the tester, I prick the tip of a finger, then laying my arm
across my lap so i put pressure on the pulse point of my wrist, i squeeze
the pricked finger until i begin to feel moisture. I pick up the tester and
run the finger across the bottom of the strip. when i get to the end, i
raise it up to touch the tip of the strip and wait for the beep. when i was
first testing it took a while to get the kinesthetic sense for it and still,

4 years later, there are times i'm not very kinesthetically coordinated. so
take heart, you're not alone in the challenges of testing blood sugar.
