[acb-hsp] Psychologist / Testing

Awesome, Jessie--about having a licensed psychologist--that isn't what you said exactly--that you have someone who can supervise you, so you can complete the requirements of a PHD?  Have you decided where you will earn it?

The testing instruments probably are not accessible, as they probably utilize a lot of non-standard controls the screen readers don't always recognize, and before you purchased any, I'd try to find someone using them who would let you check out the products before you buy.

While I don't do testing myself (although I could because Level B assessments are approved for LPC's), I know that many of my colleagues are now using computer programs to do them, both with children and adults. What I haven't delved into far enough yet to ascertain is whether these are accessible to screenreaders either on Windows or Mac.. However, we have a very awesome advocate who works with APA (American Psychological Association) Day Almohammed) and it would seem to me that this would be a great undertaking for ACBHSP, e.g., accessibility of psychological testing. Given that APA and PAR are the two in the forefront of test design, I would think that would be a place to start, perhaps?
  I can tell you that I wouldn't throw out the baby with the bathwater were I a blind psychologist, nor will I, and now that I have a licensed psychologist working in my practice willing to supervise me, my doctorate is only getting closer and closer. <grin>

  But, psychologists also do other things, like counseling, even if they do not do testing.
