Yvonne, You can use age as the 4th group, certainly.
Again, I see absolutely no reason not to pursue this, keeping in mind points from my previous post which you can simply mention as potential threats to the validity, or, variables to consider.
Obviously, the purposes of this assignment are to increase one's overall awareness of cultural diversity, and B. Increase your overall awareness of doing research. That's how students learn.

As to whether the end results really matter? Of course they do because all discrimination makes a difference. And, you might be able to take this particular research inquiry further later should you so desire.

  Linda,

The assignment for class is to put yourself into 4 different groups. I think mine will be: white, woman, blind, and not sure about number 4 yet. So basically I am trying to figure out if blind people or black people are more discriminated against. The way society is set up white men hold the most power and everyone else falls in below them. If I can't find any statistics I will just use my observations, such as they may be, but would like to have some facts. I hope that helps clarify.

  Yvonne-
When you say 'race trumps disability' - to what regards are you trying to assess this? As far as adaption to a disability??

Does anyone know if there are any demographic statistics on the demographics of people that are blind or visually impaired? I am doing a project for class and am trying to figure out if race trumps disability.

  Thanks for any help,

  Yvonne
