I responded to Richard, and also put in a shameless plug for our ACB-HSP
program and mixer, so hopefully our activities hay have some additional
attendees.

Andy

Subject: [CCB-L] We're going to Reno

Dear CCLVI, CCB and ACB colleagues, I presently work as Director of
Community Services at the LightHouse for the Blind in San Francisco.
Last week, Bryan Bashin, our CEO gave the green light to proceed to send
as many full time LightHouse staff as possible to the American Council
of the Blind's Conference and Convention in Reno NV, this July.

The purpose of me telling you this now is primarily for one reason. I'd
like to get a few words of positive persuasion from ACB members out
there on what you get out of the convention when having attended your
first time and subsequent times. Also, because this is going to be
rolled out to our staff at an agency wide meeting this coming week, I'd
also like to give a few additional examples to staff who have never set
foot into a consumer conference on what they may want to do to immerse
themselves and become comfortable with the experience. We have both
sighted and blind staff who have never attended any such conference, be
it ACB or NFB. Basically, what's in it for the first time rehab
professional.

If you can over the next day or two, send me some real quick simple
impressions, it would help persuade our folks how cool of an experience
this will be.

Email offline at rueda at lighthouse-sf.org or by telephone at
415.694.7334.

If successful, we'll have an additional 50 persons in attendance
participating, listening and learning from ACB members across the globe.

Thanks,

Richard
