Hi everyone
Here in Victoria Australia, we have a National Association for
Loss and Grief. To get listed on their books, and your name put
forward as a Grief Counsellor, you have to have been trained in
the area. I did my training through the Centre for Grief and
Bereavement here in Melbourne, and then did an internship
providing bereavement counselling through the same place. This
consisted of 80 hours supervised counselling with clients of
their service. To do that internship, you have to have done one
of the courses (mine was an intensive certificate), and then of
course you have to be a social worker, or psychologist or
professional counsellor of some description.
Hope that helps
Louise.
