The Department of Veterans Affairs has a career opportunity 
called the
Technical Career Field program.  It is a paid two-year internship 
where
candidates are trained in a critical shortage area and eventually 
placed
in a permanent position in the field.  You must be willing to 
relocate at
the end of your internship.  Starting salary ranges from GS-5 
through GS-9,
depending on education and experience.  I am not a hiring 
manager, but can
give you basic information about the program and working for the 
federal
