The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Association of New York State
(CDPAANYS) is seeking four (4) Regional Outreach and Education
Specialists (ROES) for a statewide grant funded initiative working to
increase awareness of the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program
(CDPAP) for seniors and people with disabilities in New York State. The
positions will be based around the state, with one in Western New York
(Buffalo/Rochester), Central New York (Binghamton), the Hudson Valley
and Long Island/Westchester.

CDPAANYS is a statewide nonprofit membership organization that works to
support Consumer-Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP)
contractors and users in all counties of New York State, providing
assistance including, but not limited to: advocacy, systems change,
promotion of consumer control and self determination.

Responsibilities

The Regional Outreach and Education Specialist works under the direction
of the CDPAANYS Executive Director and reports to the Project
Coordinator. Responsibilities include:

*        Working closely with local member organizations and the aging
services community to implement education programs throughout the region


*        Conduct stakeholder meetings and training events using
initiative training materials; assist in the development of project
educational and training materials

*        Facilitate relationships among member organizations, seniors
and people with disabilities and their family members, and relevant
community stakeholders and local and state government

*        Assist in the planning and presentation of regional and
statewide training events 

*        Track all program activities in weekly and monthly reports

*        This position requires significant, weekly travel throughout
region, as well as some statewide travel

 

Qualifications

*        Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.

*        At least two years professional experience with the consumer
directed personal assistance program, community organizing, long term
care, and/or disability rights strongly preferred.

*        Demonstrated written, verbal, public speaking and interpersonal
communication skills. 

*        Excellent organizational and computer skills; 

*        Energetic self-starter with the ability to work in multiple
locations without direct oversight and ability to travel extensively in
the region. 

*        Fluency in Spanish preferred. 

*        Knowledge of state and local policies, practices, laws and
issues impacting seniors and people with disabilities
