Please share this informational request with your state listservs 
so that ACB can obtain the broadest possible feedback on the 
pilot accessible formats project with the American Cancer 
Society.

As ACB works with ACS to review the overall implementation of the 
American Cancer Society provision of accessible format materials 
in Braille, large print, audio MP3 and electronic formats, it is 
important that we hear back from individuals who have requested 
information.

Please email me directly at 
kim.charlson at perkins.org<mailto:kim.charlson at perkins.org> and 
tell me if you received the materials you requested? Did you 
receive the materials in a timely manner? Did they meet your 
needs?

Did you call on the ACS toll-free phone line, and if so, was your 
experience with the staff member satisfactory?

Also, let me know if the physical quality of the materials were 
acceptable - the binding of the Braille or large print, accuracy 
of the materials sent to you, sound quality of the audio or 
electronic files?

All of these factors will be a part of our evaluation of the 
pilot program.  ACB is hopeful that the pilot has worked 
successfully, and that we may be able to expand the number of 
cancer-related publications being offered in accessible formats.  
This project is so important for people who need this vital 
information in a time when they are trying to inform themselves 
to deal with their own medical condition or that of a family 
member or friend.

Thanks so much for helping ACB to make this pilot project work 
effectively and to transition it into a permanent program.
