Church Publishing Incorporated Hosting Facebook Forum
Tonight on Ministering to Children with Learning Differences and
Their Families
For Immediate Release November 29, 2011
Join Church Publishing Incorporated on Facebook
tonight to explore Ministering to Children with Learning
Differences and Their Families, with author/experts, Susan
Richardson ("Child by Child"), and Audrey Scanlan & Linda Snyder
("Rhythms of Grace").
How: Go to the Facebook page of Church Publishing
Incorporated, tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 29th at 8:00-9:00PM Eastern
Time. Ask questions of the authors, who will share responses to
questions about how churches can minister to children who have
learning differences and their families. And share your own
thoughts on how children can be welcomed in the Church School
classroom, worship, and all experiences of congregational life.
One participant every 15 minutes will be randomly
chosen to receive a copy of one of the authors' books. The event
will be moderated by Sharon Ely Pearson, Christian Formation
Specialist for Church Publishing Incorporated.
The chances that a child on the autism spectrum
participates in your Church School is likely. Since most Church
School teachers are volunteers with little training in working
with children who have special needs, how can we make sure we are
ministering to the child and the adult in our classrooms? Rhythms
of Grace: Worship and Faith Formation for Children and Families
with Special Needs by Audrey Scanlan and Linda Snyder offers
lesson plans to use in classrooms for all ages and abilities.
You can learn more about their ministry to children with special
needs at www.rhythms-of-grace.org/. (978-0-8192-2363-0 | $16.00

Child by Child: Supporting Children with Learning
Differences and Their Families, by Susan Richardson is a how-to
guide to integrate children and youth with special needs into
church programs and activities, including worship.
It includes how to train volunteers and staff for hands-on work
with children and youth who have special needs.
