Job Description

Position ID: 037206

The Director is responsible for the overall operation and 
management of Disabled Student Services to include hiring, 
supervising, and evaluating personnel;
preparing and maintaining budgets, and resolving student issues 
and problems.  Coordinates the delivery of appropriate auxiliary 
learning aid services for
students with disabilities and provides technical assistance to 
all divisions on campus in complying with applicable county, 
state, and federal laws

Recommends learning strategies, adaptive technology, curriculum 
modifications and special test modifications to assist disabled 
students
Serves as the disabled student advocate and liaison to community 
agencies, feeder high schools and College personnel
Maintains knowledge of technological changes and makes 
recommendations for the purchase of adaptive equipment for 
accommodation of student with disabilities
Serves on Campus and College committees
Makes recommendations and implements College policies, procedures 
and guidelines
Provides training opportunities for employees
Performs other duties as assigned

Skills / Requirements

Bachelors degree in education, psychology or other related field 
and seven (7) years related experience
All educational degrees must be from an accredited institution
Knowledge of Microsoft office software and specific computer 
programs related to area of responsibility
Excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal 
and written)
Ability to effectively present information to groups of managers, 
clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business 
periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or 
governmental regulations
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from 
customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business 
community
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and 
draw valid conclusions for reporting purposes
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including day, evenings and 
weekends
Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment 
with students, faculty and staff
