Everything Jessie has told us is true when working with felons; I have done
a prodigious amount of research trying to find employers and programs who
will help him; they want him to do this and that therapy--he is neither a
drug or alcohol abuser--and he is very intelligent, so I believe he feels he
doesn't belong, so, hoping I can visit a couple of programs I know about to
see where their mindset is; maybe most people need most of the services they
have but my consumer needs a job, so he can support himself and begin to pay
his arrears on child support.
I can't even get a straight answer as to whether or not he could get his CDL
back and drive truck; we may learn, from medical information VR requested,
many of these jobs may be unsuitable due to an old injury, and nobody wants
to give him a chance, though he well knows his way around a computer; he
always comes in dressed nicely with cologne on and helped me back to my
cube, when I got a little disoriented with no fuss no muss; I just grabbed
his right upper arm, and he walked me to my office like he had been doing it
forever.
The man lives--and wishes to stay--in Kansas, as that is where his family
is, so the programs need to be in the Kansas City Metro area.
