POSITION: Deaf Services Mental Health Counselor 
LOCATION: BERKELEY
HOURS: 16-20 per week 
SALARY: $28.00 - $32.00/hour DOE

SUMMARY: The Deaf Services Mental Health Counselor will provide individual, group, and family therapy in an outpatient mental health setting through the Center for Independent Living (CIL). Direct services will include assessment, weekly therapy, case management, referrals, and required documentation for Alameda County Medi-Cal and Medicare charting and documentation standards. This individual will also attend group supervision and staff meetings each week.

Essential Functions:

. Complete and thorough record keeping and case coordination
. Provide individual, group, and family mental health services to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals
. Maintain accurate records and progress notes
. Pre-licensed staff must participate in individual and group supervision

Qualifications:

. Completion of Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field 
. Licensed OR Working toward licensure as an LMFT or LCSW
. Fluent in ASL (American Sign Language) and familiar with Deaf Culture and Community sensitivities
. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
. Knowledge of DSM-IV diagnoses
. Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunction

SUMMARY: The Clinical/Program Coordinator will provide overall management and direction to a social service or mental health program in the Center for Independent Living (CIL) including management of interns and counseling staff, and coordinating and integrating programs with others in the organization. This individual will also provide direct mental health services to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing consumers.

Provides direct supervision to case managers, and overall supervision, clinical supervision and case assignments to staff. Reviews and ensures charting compliance and documentation standards. Acts as CIL program representative to the community. Recruits, hires, trains and manages program staff. Reports to Executive Director.

Essential Functions:

. Ensure program compliance with ACBHCS contract
. Supervise administrative record keeping ensuring case coordination, planning, BIS reporting, caseload coverage, and staff productivity toward meeting required monthly service units
. Provide counseling services
. Responsible for the overall supervision of Counseling and Case Management staff, including clinical supervision and case assignments. 
. Attend and represent CIL at program director and Alameda County meetings
. Act as liaison with ACBHCS Clinics

Qualifications:

. Master's Degree in Social Work, with current California State Licensure (LCSW)
. Preferred, but NOT REQUIRED fluency in ASL (American Sign Language) and familiar with Deaf Culture and Community sensitivities. If no sign language experience, must be willing to take classes in ASL at local community college. Training for this position will be provided.
. A minimum of 5 years of direct service experience working with an at-risk or mentally ill population. A minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience required
. Knowledge of Alameda County Behavioral Health Community Services and community resources
. Knowledge of County, State and Federal requirements for documentation and reporting
. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
. Knowledge of DSM-IV diagnoses
. Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunction
