[acb-hsp] anyone done an internship with voc rehab

Hello Rhonda,

I did do an internship with Cal. DOR. By design, I did not work in the
office near where I lived, because there was concern about my
familiarity with the staff, and proximity to my own client records.

in general, things went well. In the beginning, the office was a small
branch office with about 5 staff members, and it was like a family, and
I was treated as a member of the family, both at work, and some after
work socializing. But about half way through my year there, there was
some reorganization, and the office became a district office. The
number of staff tripled in a short time, and the family aspect
disappeared, and I was kind of lost in the shuffle, and sometimes felt
like I was in the way. But, in general, it was a good learning
experience. And, as I recall, because I was a client, transportation
was covered.

Subject: [acb-hsp] anyone done an internship with voc rehab

Hello, I am in Georgia and will do an internship in the fall. Has anyone
done an internship with their state voc rehab office? If so, was your
placement at an office near where you lived? Did your rehab counselor
cover transportation costs for you?

How was your experience as an internship?

Thanks for your information.
