The Position: Business Development Specialist (Full-Time)
One of the ways Junior Blind innovates is by collaborating with others. We
are excited about our next step in our partnership with the National
Industries for the Blind (NIB). To lead this effort, the Business
Development Specialist will research and develop business opportunities for
Junior Blind under the NIB partnership.
In this position, you will share and develop opportunities for all
California member agencies of NIB, build partnerships, contracts and other
opportunities for AbilityOne, state use and commercial business. You will
identify partnerships with existing NIB agencies as well as build
relationships with private business entities to develop emerging agency
track records of success. You will also regularly communicate with the NIB
Business Development Department to relay action plans and status as well as
stay current with NIB activities on a national level. In addition, you will
attend conventions, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or related field.
Master's in Business Administration, preferred.
* Experience in the procurement of federal, state and local projects
as well as refined networking abilities.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of business
development or government related services.
* Familiarity with standards and legal and regulatory aspects of
federal, state and local procurement. Knowledge of government systems and
private business contacts.
The Department: Administration
The Position: Executive Assistant to the President (Full-Time)
Working on multiple projects and communicating effectively with all levels
of the organization, our administrative support employees provide a much
needed resource to enable us to achieve our mission and goals. As the
Executive Assistant to the President you will serve as the primary point of
contact for the President, provide support with day-to-day activities and
projects, and work collaboratively with a variety of individuals and
departments both within and outside of Junior Blind. You will perform an
extensive array of administrative tasks including managing calendars, making
travel arrangements, and project management while maintaining
confidentiality. In addition, you will provide support for Board of
Directors and related board sub-committees, assist with meeting arrangements
and accurately record and type minutes of meetings.
You are a self-starter who will be expected to demonstrate professional
etiquette and organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a
strong attention to detail. Your exceptional writing skills will enable you
to prepare effective letters and documents. Your proficiency in Microsoft
applications will allow you to prepare polished presentation materials and
reports. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining executive
office files and records and provide or coordinate tours of Junior Blind.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
* Advanced computer skills and competency in Microsoft Office.
* Minimum of 10 years administrative experience, with a minimum of 5
years experience providing support to a President/CEO, COO, CFO, or Vice
President of an organization.
* Demonstrated project management experience.
The Position: Rehabilitation Specialist (Full-Time)
Junior Blind is pleased to announce that it will be adding mental health
services to its already enriched resource and service support for DCFS youth
placed in our residential program. Mental Health services will also be
available to youth approved for placement in our residential program but
placed on a waiting list. Additionally, mental health services will be
available to youth discharged from our residential program and returning to
their homes or communities. Mental Health services will be provided by a
multidisciplinary team.
As the Rehabilitation Specialist, you will work in the residential milieu
and/or off-site in the community (school, neighborhood venues, and home) to
provide children with family-centered, strength-based intensive case
management services. You will assist clients in their efforts to build upon
existing family and community support and resource systems and collaborate
with team clinicians, psychiatrist, and mentors to ensure effective delivery
of treatment plans.
You will also implement a high quality, comprehensive and individualized
intervention program to assist children with appropriate behavior in their
current setting. You will work with individual families on issues relating
to the clients' individualized treatment plans. Provide intensive milieu,
community and home-based family counseling and support services.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred, in Child Development,
Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, Early Childhood Education, Human
Services, Nursing, Social Science, Social Welfare, Social Work, Sociology
from an accredited college or university.
* Minimum 2 years (Master's Degree) or 4 years (Bachelor's Degree) of
experience in a mental health setting
* Considerable knowledge of child development, the dynamics of
dysfunctional behavior in children, separation responses, methods and
approaches to crisis intervention treatment, and child behavioral
management.
* Ability to work cooperatively, creatively, and effectively as a
member of a highly skilled crisis intervention and evaluation team.
* Must possess and maintain a valid California Class "C" Driver
License and a good DMV driving record.
The Department: Infant & Early Childhood Program
The Position: Infant & Early Childhood Specialist -
Palmdale/Lancaster Area (Full-Time)
Touching more lives is not only one of our values, but something we do every
day. Our Infant & Early Childhood Program provides a wide range of services
for children, birth to 6 years, with visual impairments and other
disabilities through-out Southern and Central California. A key component of
these services is helping families gain the knowledge to become successful
advocates for their child's education and care.
As the Infant & Early Childhood Specialist serving the Palmdale and
Lancaster area, you will provide a wide range of services for children,
birth to six (6) years old, who have visual impairment in addition to other
disabilities. This includes direct service intervention, as well as
interaction and consultation with professionals in the community to ensure
continuity and quality of services.
You will conduct initial interviews and assess the needs of each family,
establish a family care plan which may include a behavioral support plan,
providing education directed at optimizing the child's development and
parent's skill level, direct in-home early intervention play and
multi-sensory stimulation services tailored to each child and family.
Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively consult
with a variety of community agencies and professionals. Using your strong
communication and writing skills, you will provide detailed individualized
reports for each child and their family.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Early Childhood, Child Development,
or related field from an accredited college or university.
* Knowledge of early intervention and experience working with a
population with an early intervention program.
* Have some knowledge of infant blindness.
* Experience working with children who have visual impairments.

The Department: Accounting
The Position: Bookkeeper (Full-Time)
Our Accounting team of detail-oriented and experienced team members in the
finance and accounting fields handle the core accounting roles at Junior
Blind. As the Bookkeeper, you will maintain all accounts payable in
accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines,
and regulations. This includes matching invoices with approved purchase
orders, entering invoices into the accounts payable system, processing
invoices in a timely manner, ensuring invoices are paid on time, and
month-end closing of accounts payable into the general ledger. Your strong
analytical skills will enable you to handle data-intensive reconciliations
and internal audit functions.
Requirements:
* Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college
or university.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in Accounting with an emphasis on
accounts payable and general ledger.
The Department: Social Services
The Position: Social Worker (Full-Time)
Social Services is currently looking for an experienced candidate to join
their team. The Social Worker position is to act as an advocate for our
Children's Residential Program's (CRP) residents and their families ensuring
that the medically related emotional and social service needs are maintained
on an individual basis. Client population consists of children and youth,
ages 5-21, who have varying levels of medical, emotional, physical and
behavioural challenges.
As a Social Worker, you will perform biopsychosocial assessments for each
individual entering the Children's Residential Program (CRP) and write
reports as required. You will assist with CRP intakes and discharges and
complete 30 day Individual Program Plan (IPP) and discharge summary reports.
Each month you will prepare case studies and provide in-services
presentations/training to CRP and Special Education School (SES) staff. You
will also conduct weekly observations of the CRP program to ensure active
treatment with residents is occurring as well as provide direct intervention
case and group work with residents and families in order to assist the
individual to live as independently as possible.
Requirements:
* Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or
university.
* 5 years experience working with children with special needs and/or
foster youth.
* 2 years experience working as a social worker, in a residential
setting.
* Knowledge in public special education, rehabilitation and foster
youth system, laws and policies.
* Knowledge of Title 22 & 17
* Knowledge of Regional Center and Department of Children Family

student behavior/incidents logs for communication with school staff, parents

The Position: Registered Nurse (Monday - Friday, 1:30 p.m. -

Junior Blind's medical team ensures our medical services are maintained at
the highest levels. As a Registered Nurse, you will prepare and administer
medications, notify student's attending/alternate physician, as well as the
student's legal guardian/representative, when the student becomes ill or
injured. You will develop and maintain a good working rapport with
inter-department personnel and departments to assure the medical services
and activities can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the students.
You will also be responsible in developing and maintaining nursing and
living skills objectives and standards. You will assure that department
personnel, students, and visitors follow established policies and procedures
to include safety rules and regulations.
Requirements:
* Graduate of an approved RN program.
* Must possess and maintain a current California RN license
* Must possess and maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.
* Training and experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility
or other related medical facility.
The Department: Special Education School
The Position: Physical Therapist (Part-Time)
Junior Blind's Special Education School provides the best possible services
to its students. To continue in this goal, the Physical Therapist evaluates
and provides physical therapy services to our students. You will work
collaboratively with school staff to integrate therapy into classroom and
school activities, develop and re-evaluate student individual physical
therapy plans on a regular basis and provide on-going assessment/data
collection of the effectiveness of the individual therapy plan.
You will also be responsible for providing present level student performance
for use in Individual Education Plan (IEP) committees, attend IEP meetings
as necessary, and communicate effectively with the educational team,
parents, and other professionals. You will also participate in school-wide
activities, provide staff training and prepare or secure materials and
adaptive equipment.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or
university.
* Must possess and maintain a current and valid license issued by the
Physical Therapy Board of California to practice physical therapy.
