[acb-hsp] affiliate growth

Well. I thought that generally was or is te practice. I know when I was President of MSCB and ACB-HSP, we received an email from the ACB secretary several months in advance asking several questions, and expecting an answer to them.
They were:
who would be representing our affiliate for the nominating committee?
Who would be the alternate?
And how many chairs, approximately, would we need.
If we did not answer this question, certainly within a month or two weeks of convention, rest assured we'd get another query or two.
And, at roll call on Sunday, this information was, again, collected--sometimes rather rudely.
It used to also be that without such information, affiliate simply was not recognized--like, as though it did not even exist.
And that ended in some kind of involvement in their committee that oversees such things or other--not sure of all that, just heard about it, but maybe they've dropped such things, who knows? It all sounded so unpleasant to me, I made darn sure to avoid such a thing.
Maybe people couldn't care less any longer with today's "I'll do whatever I so please" attitude. I don't know.

IMO, a lot of this is stuff that needs to get sorted out before the convention, if at all possible. Since a vast majority of convention business is done on Friday, I think it’s extremely important that the affiliate has a presence then. I have to say it does bug me when affiliates go to the microphone on Sunday night without knowing who the delegate and/or the alternate and/or the nominating committee rep will be. To me, it makes affiliates look really disorganized. I think there needs to be a conference call right before convention on which it can be determined which affiliate members will be attending, and for how long. That way assignments could be made ahead of time. Just a thought.
