[acb-hsp] affiliate growth

I agree that using restaurants is a good idea. And, people can get whatever
they want--as much or as little, as expensive or not, etc. This way, there
become no issues with who drinks alcohol, who doesn't; who likes diet this
or that, who wants to gorge on sugar and sweets, etc., etc., etc.
Conversation can be more of a royal pain for those of us who are deaf-blind
but that's getting to be a royal pain anyway, so not sure how to get around
that one. <sigh>!

I don't see anything wrong with this, especially because having to deal
with the hotel pretty much wipes out the idea of using mixers for fund
raising purposes. Other groups at convention do this, including GDUI,
Blind Pride, and ACB Radio amateurs. No muss, no fuss, just decide on a
date and time and put it in the newspaper with a deadline and contact
number. Then, either the day before, or even perhaps that morning,
someone calls the restaurant and makes the reservation.

that might work better for us anyway because people could buy whatever
food they wanted and HSP wouldn't be stuck with extra costs or time
spent away from other activities in order to set up a room or bring in
food.
