The VA Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships (CFBNP) invites you and members of your organization to participate in a Special Conference Call providing important information on how you and others can assist unemployed Veterans meeting specific criteria with obtaining 12 months of retraining assistance for high demand occupations.
The guest speaker, Mr. Curtis L. Coy, Deputy Under Secretary for the Office of Economic Opportunity, Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), will share information on the Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW) to Hire Heroes Act of 2011 with an emphasis on the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP).
The VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011 also provides seamless transition for Servicemembers, expands education and training opportunities for Veterans, and provides tax credits for employers who hire Veterans with service-connected disabilities. VRAP offers 12 months of training assistance to Veterans who are at least 35, but no more than 60 years old; are unemployed; received an other than dishonorable discharge; are not eligible for any other VA education benefit program (e.g., the Post-9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Assistance); are not in receipt of VA compensation due to unemployability; and are not enrolled in a Federal or state job-training program.
