We used that inventory as a kind of gold standard for many years, but I
submit that it is now free because it is seldom used any more. We
haven't done any vocational testing around here in years, and I mean
years. Actually, I kind of miss it because I have a thing for numbers.
Today we use in depth interviewing. The folks who research these things
tell us that these tests have little value, especially as people get
older, as their life and work experience contaminates the test results.
They may have some value for high school or college students, even
though even these students probably know more about the world of work,
and their preferences in that sphere than many of us did when we were
young.

Subject: [acb-hsp] Career Testing Information

Hello: Some of you might be interested to know (if you do not) that the
Strong Interest Test is available and free at:

http://www.livecareer.com/career-interest-inventory-test

The site looks to be pretty friendly too. I have not taken the test but
might (smiles) for interest sake.

There is also information on cover letters, resumes, salary calculators,
etc.

Again, don't really know how accessible all of it is but there you go
anyway.

I'm getting stuff ready for a group.
