Job Description:
1.  Coordinate and monitor the daily audio transcription of print 
materials so that
customer needs and priorities are recognized and met.

2.  Coordinate, monitor, and support daily volunteer recording 
activities so that
customer needs and schedules are met.

3.  Provide general support to and maintenance of recording 
volunteer corps.

4.  Provide information on Communication Center volunteer 
opportunities and schedule
and administer the oral reading test to recording volunteer 
applicants.

5.  Assist in volunteer training, as requested by the supervisor, 
and daily reinforce
recording standards and policies with all recording volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications:
Describe your qualifications, experience and knowledge in the

One year professional-level experience working with volunteers on 
behalf of an organization
(e.g.  organizing, assisting, coordinating, training, supporting,

a bachelor?s degree will substitute for the one year experience.

Knowledge and understanding of textbook formats, structures, and 
taxonomy sufficient
to identify transcribing issues and develop transcribing 
instructions and guidance
for volunteer audio transcribers.

Working knowledge of and experience with computer fundamentals, 
database management,
and software programs, including word-processing and 
spreadsheets.

Demonstrated strong problem solving skills.

Demonstrated excellent organizational, time management, and 
detail skills.

Demonstrated excellent human relations skills.

Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills to 
persons of varied
skills, abilities, and intellect.

Must pass the volunteer coordinator oral reading test.  An 
applicant who has previously
passed the Communication Center general reading test or radio 
broadcaster test will
be deemed to have fulfilled this requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree or higher.

Experience as a volunteer.

Experience in training and/or teaching.

Experience working with persons who are blind, visually-impaired, 
physically disabled
and/or learning disabled.

Knowledge and understanding of educational, vocational, and 
access technology needs
of persons with barriers to accessing printed materials.
