[acb-hsp] HELP FINDING A JOB IN HUMAN RESOURCES

Hi Peter,
Maybe you could call the people who make Window Eyes and find out whether
Office software is accessible. I can tell you this as a social worker, most
workplaces have software that they purchase and which often is not
accessible even to JAWS. It is becoming more of a problem as we continue on
down the road of emerging technologies. There are lots of not very popular
companies who advertise their software and businesses of all types who buy
it depending on their needs.
While you can't guess which packages each company uses, you can become as
familiar with those which are accessible, such as Office, and place them on
your resume. I use JAWS and try to stay up to date on using newer Office
programs so I don't get left behind someday in my job. I knew how to use
them prior to seeking my last three jobs. I have used Access and found it
minimally accessible. I have found Word and Excel to be the most accessible
for me using JAWS. Perhaps you could research companies on the web to see
what HR software they sell and also find out which might be the most common
so you can try and figure out if there are any access issues with the most
popular types. The less accessibility issues you have by the time of an
interview the better, because you can then be more confident if you know you
are well prepared.
I fooled around with Window Eyes a time or two and found it very intuitive
after using JAWS. Maybe you should download a demo of JAWS and try it out
to see if it would be the same for you. The demo is free and runs in 40
minute mode, so you can check it out.

Dear Peter,
Thank you for that information but that is not my number one fear
of human resources as a job prospective in my field. I'm more worried
about whether or not Window-Eyes is up to the job or not. Its my
limited naive or non-naive understanding that Window-Eyes isn't up for
the challenge of tackling database driven Access or other softwares
akin to it. Am I or am I not correct in this assessment?
