NEEDS YOUR HELP With a Focus Group!

At ACB's 2012 Annual Conference and Convention

Galt House Hotel - Louisville, KY

TUESDAY, JULY 12 - 2:45-5:45 PM

* REFRESHMENTS WILL BE PROVIDED *

The Smith Kettlewell Eye Research Institute's Video Description Research and
Development Center, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, investigates
innovative technologies and techniques for making video more accessible to
blind and visually-impaired students and consumers.

The Center is collaborating with ACB's Audio Description Project in
conducting a focus group at ACB's 2012 Conference and Convention to gather
data and your opinions on advanced concepts in video description including
description production, dissemination and its overall impact. This session
will include demonstrations of innovative description technologies,
discussions about the changing role of video in education and training, and
opportunities for participants to provide detailed structured input to
Smith-Kettlewell's technology-development process.

All of this is particularly relevant with the signing of the 21st Century
Communications and Video Accessibility Act which now requires minimal levels
of television broadcasts to include description.

Please help by being a PART OF THIS IMPORTANT FOCUS GROUP!

People who should consider attending include students, educators, parents,
media professionals, and other consumers of video description. There is only
space for twenty attendees in this session, and participants must register
in advance for this important meeting.

The focus group will be held from 2:45 PM to 5:45 PM on Tuesday, July 10,
2012. Those interested in participating in this focus group should send an

basis but based on ensuring that the focus group has a good mix of
perspectives.

2012.
