It's safe to say that 2010 was a truly momentous year for ACB on Capitol
Hill with The Twenty-First Century Communications and Video accessibility
Act signed in to law and the immanent signing of the Pedestrian Safety
Enhancement Act. ACB members should be proud of these incredible
accomplishments. Our work however, is far from finished.
Here is a sampling of topics that will be covered during the Legislative
Seminar on February 27-28:
Having Congress take action on the critical need for CMS to cover low vision
devices such as closed circuit televisions, and other magnifiers.
Modifying IRS laws that have so negatively impacted revenues by charities
through vehicle donations.
The regulatory implementation of The Twenty-First Century Communications and
Video accessibility Act and the practical impact of this on blind consumers.
Discussion surrounding the Department of Justices' Advanced Notices of
Proposed Rule Making that cover Web accessibility, equipment, and video
description in movie theaters.
Other issues are sure to be dealt with as well. Greater detail on the
vehicle donation and CMS imperatives will be distributed in the coming
weeks. Our job isn't done so please come to Washington and actively
participate in the legislative process!
