You are to be commended for stepping up to the plate.  Your efforts should be an example for all of us.

 

Years ago, i was involved with Wells Fargo, Bank of America and City Bank regarding the first installations of talking ATMs and remember the up hill battle.

 

Hopefully your example will inspire other Blind and Vision Impaired people to work toward a more accessible society.

  Hello everybody,

  As you may know, I have been involved in the matter of Philip G. Rich vs. trustco bank Corporation over its failure to provide Braille bank statements. The bank has consistently said this accommodation is too expensive to be given and that the voice activated system,or a reader should be sufficient.

  I am happy to announce that a settlement has been reached between the bank, the New York State Division of Human Rights and me, which would allow the bank to either have a computer consultant try to make the on line system accessible with my screen reader, or put the bank statements into Braille. I have chosen Braille.

  this has been a difficult time and I am glad we have reached this settlement.

  Now, anyone who is blind or visually impaired will have this Braille option. You see,it was in no way just for me.

  (smile) God has truly worked a miracle.
