DVS AND RWC MOVIES IN MA
FOR THE WEEK OF Feb. 18 – 24, 2011

Hello everyone. I just wanted you to know the time has come that starting this week movie list, I will no longer be listing the times the movies are being played, just what movies in which theater. There are a couple reasons for this. The movie list is starting to get very long (which is a good thing) and it now takes me over four (4) hours to do the list. If I could do it over a period of 2 or 3 days then it wouldn’t be so bad but it has to be done on Thursday night so that people can figure out what movie to go to on Friday. Another reason is that the AMC Movie Theaters Homepage recently redesigned its webpage, and I think for the worst. It takes much longer trying to figure out which movie is audio described/closed captioned and at what times of the day. Thank you for your patience and if you have any questions, feel free to email me at vicki.vogt at perkins.org. Vicki.

The Secret Garden: Friday, February 25, 7:30 PM; Sunday, February 27, 3:00 PM at Wheelock Family Theater
A cherished story that has enchanted generations of readers. Susan Kosoff and Jane Staab are at the helm of this creative endeavor, contributing original book, music, and lyrics to the 1919 Frances Hodgson Burnett classic.
After a deadly cholera epidemic scourges India, the newly orphaned Mary Lennox—a cold, lonely girl of the British elite finds herself residing in her uncle’s gloomy Yorkshire estate. Her uncle Archibald Craven, consumed with mourning for his deceased wife Lily, is often absent from Missethwaite Manor, fleeing the haunting memories of a once-fulfilled and blissful life. Bored inside the confining castle walls, Mary, intrigued by chatter of a secret garden, journeys to find such a garden, enlisting the aid of a tentative Colin (Archibald’s son), who is bed-ridden and dangerously ill.
A story acknowledging the fears and fancies of young people, celebrating the escapist yearnings in all of us, and, ultimately, realizing that sometimes we must leave our surroundings to find our true selves—The Secret Garden is an homage to the healing powers of nature—sometimes tangible and sometimes ethereal—that can nurse the seemingly most impenetrable of wounds.

Seating and Tickets for the Wheelock Family Theater:
Contact the Wheelock Family Theatre Box Office at 617-879-2300 or visit www.wheelockfamilytheatre.org.
Preshow description of sets and costumes for all performances at all theatre locations generally begins 30 minutes prior to curtain. Please arrive early to allow time to get headsets and programs and to be seated.

Mary Poppins: Sunday, March 12, 2011, 2:00 PM at Boston Opera House
Combining the best of the original stories by P. L. Travers and the beloved Walt Disney film, the Tony® Award-winning Mary Poppins is everything you’d hope for in a Broadway musical—and more. Produced by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh, the show includes such wonderful songs as Chim Chim Cher-ee, A Spoonful of Sugar, Let’s Go Fly a Kite and, of course, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. The NY Daily News hails Mary Poppins as “a roof-raising, toe-tapping, high-flying extravaganza!” Let your imagination take flight at this perfectly magical musical for adults as well as children!
Price for Mary Poppins: $53.00
Seating and Tickets for the Opera House

The Digital movies can not handle DVS at this time although it is being worked on and there are hopes that Digital movies will be able to show in DVS by next April.
