[bscb-l] sidewalk snow-removal resolution

Hi Alison,
Firstly, that is an excellent idea to heavily fine plow drivers who put snow
on sidewalks. But if the plow drivers work for the city, not sure how that
one gets enforced.
Secondly, I in no way intend that those who cannot either shovel sidewalks
themselves or pay someone else to do it should be held responsible. I do
like the idea of having cities and towns shovel sidewalks, but where's the
budget for that one, especially in this rotten economy? When I referenced
Cambridge and Newton in the resolution, I did so because they're attempting
to come up with ways to assist seniors and persons with disabilities to
clear their sidewalks. Will you be at convention? This resolution gets
discussed on Sunday morning and I'd love for you to be there. IF you cannot
make it, I'll be sure to save your ideas and bring them to our discussion.
Keep in mind that clear sidewalks are even more important for the
independence of those with physical disabilities than they are for the
blind. I can clamber over snowbanks while those who use wheelchairs and
walkers cannot. Thanks much for your input. This kind of input makes for
better BSCB resolutions.
