Darla, thank you for your well-thought-out answer. We have to consider these 
misguided views, because they determine how other perceive us and how they 
treat us. If this person--a legislator--views us as our parent's punishment, 
how do we get considered for a job or furthermore, how can we be trusted to 
make a proper vote? Do you know that parents of disabled children actually 
have the right to permit them not to vote. Some of these children find this 
out and are very distressed about it once they get old enough to vote.

I also agree that everyone wants to jump on the disability bandwagon.
