Each year, ACB's Information Access Committee brings you a fun-filled
seminar with the latest and greatest information on technology. Along with a
report from the Chair Person of the Committee, the seminar will bring you an
expert to help you choose the right cell phone for your needs. You will also
enjoy a panel discussion on the future of desktop screen readers,
information about the latest happenings at the FCC, and an update on
accessible communications and video description through legislation.

2. 2:05 - 2:45: Accessible Cell Phones: What Are Your Choices - Brian

This session will help you choose your next cell phone by comparing the
latest cell phone access solutions including the Apple iPhone, Android,
Blackberry with Orator, Windows Mobile, and Simbian.
3. 2:45 - 2:55: 21st Century Telecommunications and Video Accessibility
Update - Eric Bridges, Director of Advocacy and Governmental Affairs, ACB.

With a rapidly changing legislative calendars and happenings in the halls of
Congress, Eric Bridges will briefly walk through the most recent and
exciting updates in ACB's effort to make telecommunications and video
description available to blind or visually impaired consumers.
4. 2:55 - 3:05: updates from the F.C.C. - Karen Peltz Strauss, Deputy
Bureau Chief, Consumer and Governmental Bureau, Federal Communications
Commission. Washington, D.C.
Disability access being one of the major tenets of a recent effort from the
FCC to expand broadband access to all Americans, Karen Strauss, a former
member of COAT's steering committee, will provide an update on opportunities
for ACB to participate in discussions and rule-making regarding access to
basic services.
5. 3:05 - 4:05: Future of Desktop Screen Readers: a Discussion Panel -
moderator: Pratik Patel, Chair, Information Access Committee.
Representatives invited from: Apple; GW Micro; Freedomscientific; NVDA; and
Serotek
What role do screen readers play in our rapidly-changing, complex future
technological world? With this question being at the heart, a panel of
commercial and open source screen reader manufacturers and other experts
initiate an important discussion about what role desktop screen readers will
play in the economy and interfaces of our near-term and distant future.
